The Long Table Lunch – Regions best on a plate
Rockingham Kwinana Chamber of Commerce, Rustico Tapas and Bar, Kent Street Deli and Latitude 32 have joined forces for Rockingham’s first Long Table Lunch. The lunch aims to promote the foreshore precinct as a viable investment option for businesses, chamber president Karen court said. The Long Table lunch will treat guests to five courses as they enjoy entertainment and a sunset on the sand. Mrs. Court said RKCC had an overwhelmingly positive response to a recent survey designed to gauge interest in the event.
‘We have to remember that the restaurants taking part are competing businesses, but this is being run by the community for the community and they are contributing to this on an equal level.’ Mrs. Court said.
Shannon Whitmore, Chef and owner of Kent Street Deli said the menu would incorporate ingredients sourced from Rockingham’s region suppliers and enlist the manpower of Challenger Institute of Technology students.
Access to the lunch would take place at a section of the beach, adjacent to Flinders Lane, with the nearby carpark and areas surrounding the marble ball to be used as food preparation space.
The owner of Latitude 32, Marc Kenly, said that he hoped the Long Table Lunch would contribute to dispelling the negative stereotypes that were sometimes associated with Rockingham. He said he hoped the 2015 event would be the first of many.
